Nootropic supplements have become a popular way to boost cognitive abilities and improve mental clarity. But with so many options in the market, it can be tough to choose one that’s actually worth your time and money.

To help you make a more informed decision, I put three notable nootropics — Alpha Brain, Mind Lab Pro, and Feedamind — against each other. After a thorough comparison of their compositions, proposed benefits, and side effects, one of them takes the edge over the others.

What makes Alpha Brain unique?

The factor that makes Alpha Brain unique is its strong focus on promoting alpha brain waves. If you’re unaware, alpha brain waves are brain signals that provide several benefits for your cognitive health.

For instance, these alpha brain signals can improve your memory so you can remember and recall information much more efficiently. They can also help you stay calm even when faced with unexpected stressful situations. This allows you to avoid panic and overcome any ordeal with calm and collected problem-solving.

The biggest benefit of the alpha brain waves, however, is their ability to make the “flow state” easier to reach. Once you are in this mental state, you can focus on the task at hand without getting distracted by most external factors. This also boosts your productivity, no matter if you’re doing work or pursuing a fun hobby.

Pros

  • Doesn’t include gluten or dairy products which makes it safe for vegans;
  • It has an easy-to-follow dose of just two capsules a day;
  • Improves mental focus which makes you more productive;
  • Boosts your memory so you can recall info more easily.

Cons

  • Some reports indicate side effects like nausea and vomiting.

What makes Mind Lab Pro unique?

I included Mind Lab Pro in this comparison because it targets the underlying source of cognitive issues for many people; drained mental energy.

Mind Lab Pro contains 250 mg of Citicoline, an ingredient that can increase the efficiency of the electric impulses that power your brain. This optimization boosts your cognitive energy levels, which — in turn — increases your mental processing power.

It also makes it noticeably easier to learn and absorb new information, whether it’s something complex that’s related to your studies or a simple piece of data like someone’s phone number.

Another aspect of Mind Lab Pro that caught my attention is its Phosphatidylserine content. This ingredient is known to reduce the symptoms of age-related memory issues so your mind can stay sharp even as you get older.

Pros

  • Makes you more productive by increasing your mental energy;
  • Has a consistent quality due to its production in FDA-registered facilities;
  • Enhances long-term memory by reducing age-related memory problems;
  • Has a gluten-free formula that’s suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Cons

  • Its high dose of four capsules daily can cause stomach issues;

What makes Feedamind unique?

Feedmaind found a spot in this comparison due to its all-encompassing approach when it comes to cognitive health. The two nootropics we’ve talked about so far are mostly focused on mental health. Feedamind, on the other hand, puts just as much emphasis on improving the physical health of your brain.

This is evident from its most abundant ingredient; Chocamine. Regular supplementation of this substance can improve blood flow to your brain.

This ensures that your neuron cells receive as much oxygen and other nutrients as they need — leading to improved brain health as a whole.

On the other hand, Feedamind also includes cognitive enhancers like N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine that can boost your logical reasoning skills. These benefits are especially noticeable when making unexpected decisions or doing mental mathematics.

Pros

  • Keeps your neurons healthy by increasing cerebral blood flow;
  • Can lower the symptoms of ADHD by reducing the impact of stress;
  • Ensures long-term brain health by reducing blood pressure;
  • Boosts your brain’s processing power which increases your decision-making speed.

Cons

  • Lack of customer feedback makes it difficult to assess long-term effectiveness.

Shared ingredients

Alpha Brain, Mind Lab Pro, and Feedamind have four ingredients in common. These include:

  • Vitamin B6
  • L-Tyrosine
  • L-Theanine
  • Bacopa Monnieri

Without a doubt, the most important of these is L-Theanine as it is a highly effective cognitive enhancer. Studies show that regular L-Theanine supplementation can boost your memorization skills — allowing you to remember and recall information more efficiently. Its intake can even boost your reaction speed by increasing the rate at which your brain processes information from external stimuli.

Another notable ingredient among these is Bacopa Monnieri as it can reduce the symptoms of ADHD. A 2014 study tested its effects on 31 children between the ages of 6 and 12. After the six-month test period, an impressive 85% of the test subjects displayed improved focus and self-control.

An interesting thing to note here is that the amount of Bacopa Monnieri used in this study is 225 mg. This is super close to the 250 mg Bacopa Monnieri in Feedamind — making it the most effective option for this benefit.

Alpha Brain unique ingredients list

Alpha Brain contains only two unique ingredients in its formula; Huperzia Serrata and L-Leucine.

The former of these — Huperzia Serrata — can lower the risk of major cognitive disorders like dementia and schizophrenia. So, taking its supplements improves your chances of having a healthy cognition, even as you get old.

L-Leucine, on the other hand, enhances your metabolism. This increases your energy production, which — in turn — allows you to stay focused on your tasks for longer without getting mentally exhausted.

Mind Lab Pro unique ingredients

Mind Lab Pro features 11 ingredients in total, five of which are unique to this supplement. The most important of these are Vitamin B9, Lion’s Mane mushroom, and Rhodiola Rosea.

Lion's Mane mushroom is the most abundant ingredient in this supplement at 500 mg. Fortunately, this high concentration is justified as this mushroom is a neuroregenerative substance. In other words, it heals and protects your nerve cells in the long run — boosting your brain health as a whole.

The Vitamin B9, although not as abundant as Lion’s Mane mushroom, still serves an important purpose. Studies show that regular supplementation of this B Vitamin can reduce the risk of mental health issues like depression and schizophrenia.

Lastly, the Rhodiola Rosea content of Mind Lab Pro acts as a stress eliminator. Its intake can reduce the effects of stress on your system — allowing you to think clearly, even in stressful situations.

Feedamind unique ingredients list

Feedamind also has five unique ingredients including Marigold Flower extract, Resveratrol, Vitamin B1, Chocamine, and Dynamine.

Keeping in line with the all-encompassing approach of Feedamind, these unique ingredients also target different areas of your cognitive health.

For instance, as I mentioned earlier, Chocamine boosts cerebral blood flow to enhance long-term brain health. Similarly, the Lutein in Marigold Flower extract promotes the safety and health of your eyes and the nerves connecting them to your brain.

Conversely, Dynamine reduces mental fatigue so you can stay alert all day without getting tired. In a similar vein, Resveratrol offers long-term protection against cognitive decline by preventing antioxidative damage to your brain from free radicals.

Potential side effects

All three of these nootropic supplements are fairly safe and shouldn’t have any major recurring side effects for healthy adults. I did find some reports of nausea and vomiting caused by Alpha Brain. But in my experience, you can often avoid issues like this by taking the supplement with food.

On the other hand, I did not find any obviously problematic substances in Feedamind or Mind Lab Pro. Even then, I still recommend practicing caution when taking any nootropic supplements and contacting your doctor if you experience any adverse effects.

Verdict

Alpha Brain and Mind Lab Pro have strong merits of their own, but the nootropic that takes the #1 spot for me is Feedamind.

The main reason behind this decision is simple; Feedamind offers the most broad-reaching benefits for its users.

For example, the L-theanine and L-Tyrosine in its formula enhance cognitive health and improve your memory. Simultaneously, ingredients like Chocamine and Marigold Flower extract secure the physical health of your brain and nervous system.

All-in-all, Feedamind is a well-rounded nootropic supplement that's certainly worth your consideration.
